COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ On Nov 6, the Butler County Regional Transit Authority opened Chestnut Street Station with indoor/outdoor waiting areas, accessible restrooms, bike storage, and bus maintenance facilities that hold 36 buses. The $27 million project, funded by federal, state and local money and offering free bus service, plans future upgrades for battery-electric or hydrogen fueling and shared access with an Amtrak stop — supporting local jobs and improved community access. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Miami University Men’s Glee Club (founded in 1907) has built a long tradition of music, brotherhood and mentoring with domestic tours, international trips, and a strong alumni network. The club meets three times a week and plans to announce a surprise in the spring as it continues to support new members and preserve its legacy. The Miami Student
- ➤ Miami University Symphony Orchestra won The American Prize for Orchestra Performance, 2025, while its director, Ricardo Averbach, earned second place for Orchestral Conducting (College/University Division) on November 17th. Miami University
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Andrew Sommers, a professor of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, received $100,000 from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers for his project (Using Surface Wettability to Deploy Frozen Water Droplet Vortex Generators on Fins to Enhance Air-Side Heat Transfer Performance During Frosting), which will study new methods to improve air-side heat transfer during frosting.
