  • Eugene M. Bill Albaugh moved his family to Oxford around 1937 and became a teacher and community leader. He served as director of the Naval Radio Training School during World War II (training nearly 7,500 service members) and later started Alba Craft Laboratory that machined uranium before he died in 1958.  Oxford Free Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • International student-athletes from Miami University shared their cultures at Preble County Senior Center by discussing their traditions, languages, and personal stories.   • Miami University is hosting the Falling for Miami photo contest — the Miami community is invited to submit photos by 11:59 p.m. on Oct 25 for a chance to win Miami-themed prize packages. Three winners will earn prizes valued at about $450, $300 and $150 and will be announced by Nov 5.  Miami University
  • Local media reported that Miami University received a $1.5M gift to transform its Humanities Center and hosted an adaptive walk on wheels at Oxford Area Trails for those with mobility challenges—other stories highlighted dollar store workers fighting for better jobs, new student loan limits that may curtail career paths, and Oxford being praised as a vibrant college town.
