Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 21st of October.
Good morning, Oxford.
🎓 Education
Over the past five years, the journalism department lost five professors without replacement; faculty now handle extra teaching and service duties while course offerings decline.
The department got approval to hire a new professor (focusing on artificial intelligence) who is set to teach by fall 2027.
🏥 Health
Holly Larson, a registered dietitian in Oxford, explains that a regular scale does not show the difference between fat loss and muscle loss (body composition measures give a clearer picture).
She advises locals to focus on healthy changes instead of just lowering numbers.
🏈 Sports
Miami University's RedHawks golf team will open the Rick McVey Indoor Golf Center in spring on a retrofitted building off Wells Mill Drive; the 3,500 sqft facility will provide three hitting bays (with TrackMan and SAM PuttLab systems) to boost practice and team culture.
