COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents at Level 27 learned on Aug. 22 that the complex would stop providing transportation to Miami University after new management took over—forcing them to rely on Butler County Regional Transit Authority buses that run roughly once an hour. Students have also faced changes in parking fees and pet policies, which have reduced the services they once depended on.  The Miami Student

  • Baylee Schmitt, MFA '23 from Miami University won the $10,000 Yeck Award for her work 'Oak Table and Chairs' made with crochet, yarn and wire—her work is on display at Hiestand Galleries until Oct. 6.  Miami University

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Grand Duke Henri visited Miami University's John E. Dolibois European Center on Sept. 19 to meet students, faculty and staff—highlighting a strong bond with the Grand Ducal family.  Miami University
  • Miami University and Butler Tech have partnered to cut the time and cost for students to become licensed educators by letting high school students earn college credit before joining Miami’s teacher preparation program. Butler Tech students will start their teacher education pathway soon and will enter Miami’s program in the 2026-2027 academic year.  Miami University

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Scott Downing, a leading apple grower, finished his harvest early this year and his apples will be sold at Oxford's Farmers Market over the coming weeks—varieties include Golden Delicious, Melrose, Jonathan, Mutsu, Jonagold, and Monroe. The annual festival will not offer a pick-your-own option next weekend.  Oxford Free Press
