- ➤ At its September 11 meeting, the Talawanda Board of Education discussed cybersecurity standards—reviewing state bills like H.B.96 and S.B.29 that guide how schools protect student data. Board member Matt Wyatt warned that proposed Medicaid cuts affecting over 90,000 Butler county members, including more than 50,000 children, could strain school resources and raise local taxes as the board prepares to meet again on Oct. 9. - ➤ On September 16, Oxford City Council discussed a new recycling mandate that would use shared—locked dumpsters in apartments during a pilot program and heard from residents about a Butler levy expected to raise $20.2 million yearly to help more seniors stay at home. The council also approved resolutions for an Amtrak rail station project, Community Assistance funds for 2026, and a $70,000 grant for a winter shelter while the mayor declared Constitution Week for Sept. 17—23.
