- ➤ Oxford will host its fourth OXtoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 1-8 p.m. in the Uptown parks area—15 vendors, nine food trucks, bands, games for kids, and fun contests will add to the local flavor of the fall event. Oxford Free Press
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Joe Prescher is finishing his year-old bee mural in the alley between CJ's and Mac & Joe's by adding extra bees and cleaning up areas left undone. He worked with local students and community members to fund and help complete the project, which started last August and will now be displayed permanently to celebrate Oxford's growing interest in public art. - ➤ Jeff Kruth, director of Architecture Graduate Studies and assistant professor of Architecture and Interior Design, was awarded $5,000 from the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation for his Storefronts Community Arts Collaborative project—aimed at boosting local arts efforts. Miami University
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miami University has partnered with the Cincinnati Bengals—creating internships and game day roles for students in areas like media, corporate relations, and video editing as part of a multi-year partnership. The university will also host campus speakers and have its marching band perform at the Bengals’ home opener this fall. Miami University
- ➤ From Sept. 1 to Sept. 7, Miami University reported that its president shared football leadership lessons and launched a new Ph.D. program in Computer Science. Other reports said Hamilton leaders planned a new development with ideas from Miami student planners and that tariff changes raised prices for online orders — while Miami updated plans for an Event District. - ➤ Miami University students will attend the inaugural International Leadership Conference at the Marcum Hotel and Conference Center on Oct 3-4. The event—sponsored by university groups—will feature interactive workshops and inspiring keynotes that aim to build students' leadership skills. Miami University

- ➤ Miami University will host its 10th Citizenship and Democracy Week from Sept. 15 to Sept. 22 to celebrate the U.S. Constitution—showing its focus on civic life. The week will include oral arguments, student presentations, a Pulitzer Prize finalist play, a naturalization ceremony, a free speech forum, a lecture and a blood drive—offering a clear look at government in action.
