- ➤ Enjoy Oxford will host its Hike-A-Thon on Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at DeWitt Log Cabin, where visitors will learn about the Myaamia tribe and explore trails at both Oxford and Miami University—guided hikes, self-led tours, reenactments, free t-shirts, water stations, and pet-friendly features are planned. - ➤ Oxford Seniors will host its 36th annual Masters Games from Sept. 8 to Sept. 19 — an event expecting 100 to 150 seniors to compete in 23 contests including corn toss, shuffleboard, and baking. Registration costs $25 and ends on Aug. 29 with t-shirt pick-up starting on Sept. 5 and additional fees for select events while donations are accepted. Oxford Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miami University held its record M.O.V.E. Bootcamp on Aug. 30 at Lewis Place with 500 attendees— the highest count in Oxford— and will host the next bootcamp on Sept. 27. Miami University
- ➤ Professor Liz Martin-Malikian, chair of Architecture and Interior Design, contributed a chapter to a new book on carbon neutral design (the book discusses methods for lowering carbon in school curricula). She was interviewed by Metropolis magazine about her teaching ideas and nonprofit work. Miami University

- ➤ Trey LaBounty, a former RedHawk who earned his Master of Sport Analytics from Miami University in 2023, is excited for his new role as a scouting research analyst for the Cincinnati Bengals—he says the sky is the limit as the season nears. Miami University
