- ➤ Oxford Area Solutions for Housing held a meeting on Aug. 18 to plan a cold shelter for winter—attendees discussed options including renting one facility or rotating among three churches. They noted that the city approved TRI Community Center showers for shelter guests three evenings each week and will continue planning with a meeting at Oxford Presbyterian Church on Sept. 15. - ➤ Miami University launched its new Ph.D. in Computer Science program after the Ohio Department of Higher Education approved it in August. Miami University
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At its Monday meeting, the Oxford Parking and Transportation Advisory Board reviewed a Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan funded by a $150,000 grant to improve transit stop access and safety for riders. The board will hold an open house on Sept. 17 at the Oxford Lane Library & design plans are expected to be complete by spring. Oxford Free Press
