Amberly Szczerbiak, a rising sophomore at Miami University, was crowned Ohio Fairs’ Queen at the state fair’s ribbon cutting today—she celebrated the event with her family and plans to visit multiple county and independent fairs while balancing her school schedule.

Her strong support system from family and local Fair Board members underscores her commitment to making each fair trip meaningful.

At its July 14 meeting, the Oxford Recreation Board reviewed its 2026 capital budget plan that calls for a new outdoor fitness court on the Oxford Area Trail System with a grant from UC Health and the expansion of pickleball courts at the TRI Community Center—steps taken to meet growing local demand. The board also plans to update playgrounds and will meet quarterly with TRI, with its next meeting scheduled for Aug. 11 at noon.
