🏘️ Community
TOPSS will not run its cold shelter this winter due to issues with finances, staffing, and a flawed hotel model (one room was even damaged), and local churches with OASH are meeting to plan alternative shelter options in Oxford.
Executive director Sherry Martin said a proper facility is needed before the program can restart.
🎭 Culture
Miami University’s Wind Ensemble will perform on April 10 at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor during the North Central Conference of the College Band Directors National Association.
Director Daniel Farr said the group of about 50 students is excited to take the national stage — marking its seventh appearance.
🏛️ Government
At the City Council meeting on July 15, Oxford officials approved plans for a new TOPSS facility (5455 College Corner Pike), the purchase of 4.9 acres for the Oxford Area Trails System, and a reduction in parking meter fees for the August Red Brick Reunion Porsche Car Show.
The TOPSS facility will break ground on July 30 at 1 p.m., and the land purchase will include a vegetative barrier along part of the trail to separate public and private areas.
