  • Aidan Cornue has been named as the new editor of the Oxford Free Press and will begin in mid-July; the Chicago native and West Virginia University graduate takes over after Sean Scott’s final edition on June 27 — the paper will not print on July 4 or 11.  Oxford Free Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Miami University announced Jill Gaby ‘91 will serve as interim vice president for University Advancement beginning July 1 to lead a 120-member team as the capital campaign nears its $1 billion goal—Brad Bundy is set to retire this summer— and she will use her years of development experience to guide the division through this transition.  Miami University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At its June 9 meeting, the Oxford Township Board of Trustees approved May financial reports and transferred funds for a paving invoice while Superintendent Johnny Smith’s crew continues road repairs, mowing, and brush cutting to fix washout areas. The meeting also reviewed an electric aggregation report showing savings for residents (13.7% for those with Duke Energy and 23.8% for those with AES Ohio), set plans to get quotes for a new Township Hall roof and cleaning services, and scheduled the next meeting for July 14.  Oxford Free Press
