Good morning, Oxford.

Oxford police responded to multiple theft, break-in and scam incidents last week—arresting a woman with an active warrant on April 30 and detaining a suspect on a parole violation on May 3—after receiving reports that ranged from a fraudulent email scam targeting a student to thefts from vehicles and businesses.

Elisa Rosenthal, a Miami University student in Oxford, recounted feeling judged when a driver gave her a disapproving look as she parked in a designated handicap spot at a Walmart parking lot – an incident that highlights the ongoing challenges faced by disabled students on campus. She urged both her peers and university officials to treat students with disabilities with greater understanding and respect.
