EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miami University film students won the College Movie Festival for a second straight year, and the team behind the ‘Bittersweet’ documentary received the Best International Documentary Feature award in Toronto. A virtual alumni premiere is set for the weekend of June 5 with a webinar on June 8. Miami University
- ➤ University officials announced major campus renovations this summer from May graduation to August move-in. Bachelor Hall will reopen for the next school year, Williams Hall will be demolished, and Cook Field will begin its transformation into a new arena (expanding recreation spaces for students). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ William Darling, a 1990 Miami grad and Assistive Technology director, was appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine to the Board of Trustees (term: March 1 to Feb. 29, 2032), and Madison Repass from Perrysburg was named a student trustee with a term ending Feb. 29, 2028 at Miami University in Oxford. - ➤ Building removal and energy system conversions will start this month at the site between Nellie Craig Walker Hall and South Oak Street. The project will remove Williams and Wells Halls plus Joyner and Hanna Houses, regrade sidewalks for ADA access, and salvage materials, with site restoration scheduled for mid-Oct. Miami University
