- ➤ ShareFest 2026 invites those moving out to donate usable items (including furniture, appliances, non-perishables, and e-waste) during Move-Out Week from May 14-19 at Chestnut Fields parking lot from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations will help local residents and social service agencies. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miami University's new RedHawk Safe app launched May 4 and offers emergency tools (safety chat, campus maps, and reporting options) for students, faculty and visitors. The department will update the app with more features for game days and other campus events. Miami University
- ➤ Andrew Jones, an associate professor at Miami University, was named a Higher Ed Hero by Insight Into Academia for his dedicated mentoring of students and transformative support in and out of the classroom. His hands-on approach fuels student success. Miami University
- ➤ Miami University professor Douglas Coffin was spotlighted as a Higher Ed Hero by Insight Into Academia and earned the Nicholson Medal from TAPPI earlier this year, underscoring his key role in paper engineering education (he has taught at Miami since 2002 and attracts high industry regard). - ➤ MaKenzie Love, a first-year student at Miami University, was honored by the legislature for being the first Ohioan to win the national Braille Challenge in high school. She uses braille daily in her Inclusive Education major and plans to help young blind students. Miami University
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Luke Skaljac, who stepped up when Evan Ipsaro was sidelined, led the RedHawks to an undefeated season and will take on an expanded role next season as Ipsaro returns.
