- ➤ At a Talawanda Board meeting on April 17, the board voted 4—1 to censure board member Dawn King for allegedly using her credentials to access sensitive student records. At the same meeting, parent Suzy Stein announced plans to file a class action lawsuit against the district for exposing sensitive documents via Google Classroom. Oxford Free Press
- ➤ Chris Makaroff (former dean of Miami University’s College of Arts and Science) is named interim provost after Elizabeth Mullenix stepped down to return to teaching, and Miami will soon launch a national search for a permanent provost. Makaroff said he is honored to serve during this transition and will work closely with faculty as the university moves into its next phase. Miami University
- ➤ Miami University acquired a new third-generation DNA sequencing technology on April 21 that is the first in the Midwest and now operates the VEGA instrument at the Center for Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics—boosting research speed. This addition expands the university's current sequencing capabilities. Miami University
