COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ At an April 15 update, TOPSS reported that it served nearly 1500 households, fed almost 3500 people, and kept 134 households in their homes through rent and utility help last year—up from 2023. TOPSS has received $1.5 million in American Rescue Plan funds and will bid on a new one stop social services facility before breaking ground in June. Oxford Free Press

- ➤ Matthew Davis ’99 leads COhatch—a community-driven workspace and event company—to success his own way, as he marked the company's progress at a RedHawk50 event in Cincinnati in March. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miami University will close three centers — OTIE, CSDI and the Miami Regionals Center — this summer to comply with Senate Bill 1, a state law that bans diversity programs in higher education. Affected employees have been offered new roles as some programs move to a different office. Oxford Free Press
- ➤ Coates, Prádanos-Garcia & Wang received University Faculty Scholar Awards for their sustained excellence in research at Miami University. Their work on optical imaging and laser surgery techniques is expected to lead to better clinical care. Miami University
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oxford City Council passed four emergency measures on April 15 to correct legislative errors and start the appropriations process for land needed for Phase Five of the trail system from Talawanda High School to Talawanda Middle School—using a $3 million grant with strict deadlines. The council also approved a revised contract to upgrade the water main on High Street with work set to finish before Miami University's fall semester. Oxford Free Press
