- ➤ The Oxford NAACP will host its annual Freedom Fund Banquet at 4:30 p.m. April 26 in Miami’s Shriver Center—Courtis Fuller will speak and a buffet dinner will be served before scholarship winners and award recipients are honored. Tickets cost $60 and will support NAACP activities and scholarships for graduating Talawanda seniors. Oxford Observer
- ➤ Residents of Oxford will see foxes and learn about their habits at a fox talk hosted at Hueston Woods from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12 — the event is held at the nature center and children must be accompanied by an adult. Oxford Observer
- ➤ The Oxford Area Trails System will host the OATS n’ Honey 5K and 10K race tomorrow at 9 a.m. on the Oxford trails before the Bee Festival—registration is open today at Enjoy Oxford at 14 W. Park Place from noon to 5 p.m. and again at Leonard Howell Park from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.—with each $35 entry including a water bottle and sticker. Oxford Observer

- ➤ Oxford Police have responded to nearly a dozen attempted vehicle thefts — including two cars that were stolen and later recovered plus two vehicles broken into last week — in the past month. Oxford Free Press
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The I Heart Cookies food truck will return to Oxford on April 15 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Gillman Home Center on College Corner Pike, featuring deep dish cookies and a new animatronic dinosaur exhibit with over 10 models; guests must buy at least one cookie—priced at $5 each or $25 for 6 cookies—and can redeem a free deep dish cookie with an RSVP screenshot. - ➤ The Oxford Community Arts Center will host the Gatsby Gala: A Roaring ‘20s Extravaganza on April 12 from 6 to 10 p.m.—the fundraising event will feature live jazz by Ricky Nye Trio, an open bar, food, a speakeasy lounge, casino games and a silent auction with prize trips to Ireland and Mexico. - ➤ Harvard Law professor and bestselling author Lawrence Lessig will speak at 7:00 p.m. April 21 at the Harry T. Wilks Conference Center on the Hamilton campus as the League of Women Voters sponsors his lecture on changing the Electoral College to rebuild America’s democracy—a Q&A and book signing will follow.
