Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 25th of March.
Good morning, Oxford.
📰 Economy
Local farmers in Oxford have seen a rise in egg demand because a national bird flu outbreak is reducing supply; Stoney Hedgerow Farm will raise its egg price by $0.50 per dozen on April 5th while Harvest Moon Homestead now charges $5 per dozen instead of $4.
Farmers face challenges replacing flocks and increased costs—these issues may lead to further price changes and delays in egg production.
🎓 Education
At a March 20 meeting, the Talawanda School District board voted 3-2 to add new staff positions for the 2025-26 school year—hiring two elementary Title Teachers and a full-time guidance counselor on a cost-neutral plan.
The board also unanimously approved a $570,205 contract with Motz Group to replace the high school turf field, with work set to be mostly finished by Aug. 1.
🏥 Health
Dietitian Holly Larson explains that afternoon sugar cravings often happen when a skipped breakfast or unbalanced lunch causes a drop in blood sugar (she advises drinking water, eating balanced meals, and managing stress to steady energy).
Her advice offers Oxford readers clear, actionable tips to control cravings without feeling deprived.
