John D. Millett, Miami University’s 16th president, brought military and planning skill to his role from 1953 to 1964—he introduced a common curriculum and led campus expansion including new branch locations.
He later served as the first chancellor of Ohio’s higher education agency—returning to Oxford to teach and share his expertise.
