Good morning, Oxford.

Oxford’s Student Community Relations Commission met on March 14 to review proposals from a POL 466 capstone class aimed at easing off-campus renting for Miami University students.

The group suggested pre-lease classes and a landlord certification program to educate students about their renters’ rights + promote accountability.

On March 18, Oxford City Council adopted a centralized Title VI plan—consolidating its civil rights policies—and voted unanimously to advance two grant applications—one for $90,000 to boost housing stability and another for $52,000 to diversify the Uptown tree canopy.

After 19 years with the Oxford Police Department, Adam Price was promoted to lieutenant at a swearing-in ceremony on March 18 at the Oxford Courthouse; he served as a detective sergeant and will handle public outreach and recruitment while finishing his detective duties through the end of the school year (only six officers have held this rank in 30 years).

The Oxford Fire Department made 551 runs in the first two months of 2025—nearly 15% more than the same period in 2024 and close to 10% higher than in 2023.

Voters passed a levy last November to support operations and staff training was expanded in February as two thirds of the calls were EMS runs and four needed narcan.
