EDUCATION NEWS

  • Miami University Board of Trustees approved a $281-million plan for a new basketball arena on Cook Field last Friday to improve student-athlete scheduling and boost recruitment. Some faculty and students voiced concerns over funding priorities and loss of green space.  The Miami Student
  • Miami University and Cleveland Clinic Education have announced a new Master of Education in Health Professions Education program available virtually from this fall. The two-year program will train healthcare professionals to improve teaching skills using courses by EHS + Cleveland Clinic faculty.  Miami University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oxford Police Department swore in new hometown officer Elana Schwartz on Feb. 3 after her graduation from the OSHP Academy and service as a public safety assistant. Schwartz began her first shift on Feb. 2 and will complete a 14-week training process (she is 22) with strong community support.  Oxford Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Miami University’s men won a close game 74-72 while the women beat Kent State 71-52 for MAC regular-season championships at Millett Hall. Both teams clinched top seeds for upcoming MAC tournaments in Cleveland.  Miami University
