- ➤ Doug Jordan, a local veteran who served in Vietnam as a radio technician, shared his story in his Oxford living room. He described how service (with training at Fort Benning and fire base assignments) taught him self-discipline and said he would choose service again without hesitation. Oxford Free Press
- ➤ Oxford Lane Library (441 S. Locust St.) experienced an electrical fire in its children’s section on Feb. 3 that caused minimal damage from a faulty light fixture, and the library remains closed pending repairs and further electrical investigation. Oxford Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Miami was named among the top producing institutions for Fulbright awards and honored five semifinalists while scheduling several information sessions this spring for students seeking global study and research opportunities. Miami University
- ➤ 239 Miami University students gained real-world insight during Winter Term from professionals at 15 organizations, and the Center for Career Exploration and Success will expand job shadowing to the Summer Term to serve more students (supporting flexible career exploration). Miami University

- ➤ The Miami women's basketball team raised its record to 18 to 4 and remains 10 to 0 in the MAC this season, spurring local interest and boosting recruiting efforts. Coach Box and player De Vries highlighted the team’s unity & international mix as key factors for their success. Miami University
